Delta's Medallion Program is Sketchy and Unpredictable

We run into these weird situations where the way Delta's Frequent Flyer Program upgrades work is completely random. This time, we happened to be filming for an episode of SPoT Life and caught the whole thing going down. I was number two on the list and Schaefer was number five. I was certain I was getting the upgrade and he wasn't because I'm one status level above him, Diamond vs Platinum. So, we were trying to make a funny intro to the episode out of it. Turns out it was the other way around as you can see in the footage here.

Right after this happened, I asked for an explanation, of course. The agent first said that it was because a higher price was paid for Mr. Schaefer's ticket. After boarding the plane and looking it up, I found my ticket was more expensive. Our receipts are here: http://meronek.com/delta.gif.

As I mention at the end of this clip, sometimes being grouped with someone with no status can "hold you back." I was on my own itinerary on this one, not with HiDefJoe.

So, yet another incident where there is completely unexplained and random choices for who gets the upgrade. The Delta agent apologized and gave me some drink tickets. Oh, well. The Delta Medallion program is looking pretty worthless. They still give great service and kill it on getting us to all the places we need to go. I'm still backing Delta the whole way, back seat or front seat. I'm just bored on the plane avoiding work and uploading this footage with my $13 internet.

I'm lucky enough to travel for both work and pleasure. That combined with my desire to document everything and you end up with this list here.
